Kiwi Night Walk

Lushly green and ringing with birdsong during the day, by night the New Zealand native forest is magically still and dark. Lit by torches, our Landing guide will take you on a journey into the darkness to discover New Zealand’s shy iconic native bird, the kiwi, which lives in abundance at The Landing. You’ll see the burrows where they hide during the day, hear their surprisingly loud calls to each other through the night air, and come face-to-fuzzy-face with them as they roam the forest searching for food in their favourite spots.

Marine Wildlife Cruise

The sparkling Bay of Islands harbour is a marine wonderland. Board The Landing’s boat Iti Rangi for a tour of the harbour’s pristine coves and bays, looking out for seals lounging in the sun, little blue penguins bobbing through the waves, rock colonies of seabirds, pods of dolphins cruising the gulf, schools of fish in the clear shore waters and even whales on a lucky day. Your Landing guide will talk you through sites of historic and geological interest, including volcanic rock formations and archeological discoveries in the region.

Vineyard and Winery Tour

There’s no better way to understand of what goes into a glass a wine than tasting it overlooking the vineyard where it’s grown. A member of our vineyard team will take you on a walk among the vines, describing the different grape varietals and our sustainable approach to growing grapes, before taking you up to our hilltop winery, where you can taste our range of reds and whites, sample wine from the barrel, learn about Northland’s long wine-making history and enjoy spectacular views out over the coastal terroir that gives our wines their complex, award-winning notes.

Heritage Tour

Learn the fascinating history of Pacific explorers, sailors, whalers, chiefs, missionaries, traders and settlers who founded one of New Zealand’s first townships and the story of the beautiful and abundant landscapes that drew them here. Our guide will take you on a tour of archeological sites of interest at The Landing, and across to the landmark Rangihoua Heritage Park and Marsden Cross memorial above Rangihoua Bay, which The Landing proudly cares for.
