At The Landing, kaitiakitanga — guardianship of the land — is not just a guiding principle, but a daily practice that continues to shape the way we care for our environment, people and place. The release of our 2024 Sustainability Report provides a moment to reflect on what we’ve achieved, what we’ve learned, and where we’re heading.
At the heart of how The Landing operates is the knowledge that we are not owners of the land we work on, but only temporary guardianships. Kaitiakitanga, or guardianship, is woven into our decision-making processes.
Our sixth Sustainability Report has just been released, documenting the work our team has carried out in the last year to care for our environment and the people who look after it. In 2025, this ranged from reforestation and pest control work, regenerative agriculture practices in the vineyard and good waste systems in our kitchen to greenhouse gas emissions management and supporting a university-led research project into the feeding habits of kiwi.
