Coming Soon... The Landing Suites in the City

December 13 2019

The spirit of The Landing will be captured in five luxurious rooftop suites when The Hotel Britomart opens in mid-2020.

From the middle of next year, The Landing won’t be the only place where you can experience our legendary hospitality, generosity and beautiful accommodation.

The Hotel Britomart is a 10-storey, 104-room hotel currently under construction in the heart of the dockside Britomart precinct in Auckland, due to open mid-2020.

At the hotel, the five rooftop suites will be known as The Landing Suites, and will be dedicated to bringing the experience of The Landing into the central city.

Designed by Auckland’s Cheshire Architects, who are responsible for our four spectacular Residences and upcoming winery building, in association with Seattle practice Lucas Design Associates, the airy, luxurious suites capture the mood of the spacious, modern Pacific interiors of the Residences.

The generous suites each feature gracious living areas with plenty of room for entertaining or lounging, as well as comfortable corners to curl up on bespoke furnishings with a book or magazine. In the bedrooms, the dreamily comfortable beds are the centrepiece, with expansive stone-lined bathrooms calling to mind the natural textures of The Landing.

Selected pieces of contemporary Pacific and Māori art will feature in the rooms, with US design practice Lucas Design Associates bringing a trans-Pacific sense of style to the interior detailing.

Three of the suites will include sky gardens, planted with lush greenery and flowers, and two have spacious outdoor decks with outdoor fireplaces, perfect for hosting.

“There are so many things that make The Landing special,” says Emily Priest, an architect at Cheshire who worked on the creative concept for the suites. “The site itself is incredible. But what I also love about it is the architecture and design – the use of natural materials that are both humble and special, the clean, crisp detailing and the many special moments in the interior. You walk and have a sense of ‘Wow’.”

Creating a sense of respite that contrasts with the bustle of the city was essential for the suites, she says. “As soon as you step into the rooms, there’s a sense of enduring calm.”

Bookings for The Landing Suites and standard rooms at The Hotel Britomart will open early 2020.
