The Landing Wines: 2013 Syrah awarded Gold

March 03 2017

The Landing vineyard was first planted with Chardonnay and Syrah in 2007 and has expanded over recent years with plantings of Sangiovese, Pinot Gris, Montepulciano, Malbec, Cabernet Franc and Merlot. Vineyard Manager Keith Barker shares an interesting anecdote in his interview (also in this newsletter): “On the 26th of September in 1819, Samuel Marsden wrote from Rangihoua next door to The Landing that ‘New Zealand promises to be very favourable to the vine, so far as I can judge at the present, of the nature of the soil and climate. Should the vine succeed, it will prove of vast importance to this part of the globe’.”

The Landing Wines have continued an exciting journey of progression and growth. In February, The Landing Wines Syrah 2013 was awarded a gold medal from The Royal Easter Show Wine Awards. We were also awarded four-and-a-half stars for the 2013 Syrah, by Winestate Magazine. The 2015 Chardonnay and 2015 Syrah were each awarded four stars.

We are pleased to offer The Landing Wines through our website as well as in selected stores and restaurants in the Bay of Islands and Auckland. Please note the 2015 Syrah has not been released for sale yet.
